What Do You Crave? Part II

Last week I challenged you with this question: Do you crave Jesus? Today let's look at ways we can develop that craving in our lives.

The first step to an intimate relationship with Jesus that craves Him is TRUST. I take great assurance in the promise that Jesus will never turn His back on me no matter what! In Ezekiel 34:11-16 there is an amazing scripture that reminds me of how much God loves us and what lengths He will go to be with us. Take a look:

For thus says the Lord God: “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.  As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day.  And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land; I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them in good pasture, and their fold shall be on the high mountains of Israel. There they shall lie down in a good fold and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down,” says the Lord God. “I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgment.”

Plain and simple, we have a choice to choose Jesus but there is no question that HIS HEART wants us!

Let’s look at some critical promises that allow us to jump into an intimate craving relationship with Him. As we grow in our walk with Jesus and we hunger for a more intimate relationship with Him, we must surrender and be willing to turn to him.

These promises help me:

The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
And will say, ‘Destroy’ (Deuteronomy 33:27)!

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:39).

So we trust, we jump, and we land in the arms of this amazing Jesus. These are some of my favorite names of Jesus and where I land day after day: Savior, Teacher, Friend, Provider, Comforter, Almighty King, Father, Redeemer, and Good Shepherd.

So what is keeping you from jumping into His arms? What is stopping you from having a craving relationship with Jesus? Are you too busy, do you have wrong priorities; are you living for yourself and not God? Have the cares of the world swallowed you up? Are you living in disobedience, just not motivated to read and study scripture, or maybe it is on your bucket list and just something you keep pushing to your tomorrow to do list.

After today, I hope you will always remember that Jesus loves you completely and unconditionally. God knew you in your mother’s womb, He calls you by name, knows the number of hairs on your head, loves you with an everlasting love, writes His message on your heart and holds you in the palm of His hand. Jesus longs to have a close relationship with you and God our Father wants to be your best friend and wants you to first turn to Him with and for everything! God cries out to us every day, “Let go of the things that stand between you and me and trust me with your life!”

So I started with the question are you a salt or sugar lover? Both can be such a dangerous craving because it’s just not a good idea to give in every time. The cool thing about being a Jesus lover and craving Jesus is that you can give in every time! I challenge and encourage you to dine with Jesus today. Surrender to Him and spend time with Him.

Commit for the first time or recommit today to begin every day with Him, to spend time in His Word and to turn to Him first! He wants to be your intimate friend and your daily craving.

A few reminders to keep close as you start your Daily Jesus Diet!

  • TRUST and accept that Jesus will search high and low for you and His arms are always open and ready for you to fall.

  • PRESS INTO SCRIPTURE and spend time with Jesus through scripture every day and jump into His arms.

  • REMEMBER who Jesus is and enjoy a smooth landing.  What are your favorite names?  Need to spend time with Him to discover them!

  • NEVER FORGET God desires intimacy with you and wants to be your best friend!
