Seek Him At All Times

Seek Him At All Times

Most mornings I wake up early, before anyone else in my house is awake, and spend some time with the Lord. Once a week (on a school day), I take one day and spend that entire day with Jesus. It is truly one of my favorite days of the week–no media, no telephones, no distractions, just Jesus. On those days, I am the calmest, most patient, most spiritual person in my home, until the kids come home from school. Then reality hits! Ah, reality.

This past Christmas my family and I took a wonderful trip to Disney World–a magical place. It is spectacular, beautiful, and the busiest place I have ever been to in my entire life. Yes, Disney during Christmas is, literally, wall-to-wall people. There were times when we would be simply walking through the park and become stopped in the midst of massive crowds similar to a rush hour traffic jam in New York City. It was insane. Now, let me just say that for someone who is a bit claustrophobic (and not a lover of crowds), this was a challenge for me. I found myself needing to check my attitude quite often. In fact, twice I got into it with two women who were equally stressed. Needless to say, it was completely their fault–okay, maybe not completely.

What I realized after I left this magical place was that I truly needed to spend more time with the Lord to keep my sanity, and yet, because of the busyness of the place, I spent less time with Him. Isn't that the way it is in our typical lives? During the times in our lives when the pressure is turned on high, when we are in a constant state of "go, go, go," when there seems to be no time to seek God, that's when we have to press into God even more. It can be easy to seek God when the conditions are right, can't it? But it's in those times when it almost seems impossible to seek God that we need to seek Him even more.

In light of that, I thought I would share a few scriptures that simply remind us the importance and the benefits of seeking the One who can ease our load. Seek Him at all times!

     •  For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness
and confidence shall be your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15)

     •  But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and
        not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

     •  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and
learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and
you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy
and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-31)

     •  But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and
you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart
and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29)

     •  Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice
who seek the Lord! (1 Chronicles 16:10)

     •  Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face
        evermore! (1 Chronicles 16:11)

     •  Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as
the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be
troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

     •  If My people who are called by My name will humble
themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from
their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and
will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles

     •  And those who know Your name will put their trust
in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who
        seek You. (Psalm 9:10)

     •  The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children
of men, To see if there are any who understand, who
        seek God. (Psalm 14:2)
