I wrote last week that I had the opportunity to take my oldest daughter to a summer intensive for ballet in Tampa, Florida. We had the pleasure of staying with one of my dearest friends, (Kristin Fuhs, who has written many blogs for you) and let me just tell you, she spoiled me! While Noel was working hard dancing 6 hours a day, Kristin took me to the beach, cooked for me, baked for me, sat poolside with me, and I must say, I did not suffer.
On one of our beach excursions I was looking out at the ocean. I took in all of the beautiful colors (colors that not even Crayola has named). I was astonished by the detail of the sand beneath my feet. I was blown away at the vastness of what was before me and I thought: Only God could create something this incredible.
I am absolutely marveled by those who don't believe in a Sovereign Creator. Frankly, I think it takes a tremendous amount of faith (probably more) to believe there isn't a God than it does to believe there is. How in the world could something so amazing come out of nowhere? How could the human body, which is so intricate, and sophisticated, happen by chance?
Psalm 139:13-14 tells us, "For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well." And Psalm 19:1 says so poetically, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands."
When I look out at the magnificence that is earth, my heart cries out "Glory!" God could have created everything we see a drab gray and yet, He created our Universe with brilliant color and lavish beauty. I heard a Pastor say recently, "God spoke the Universe into existence. Imagine if He used His hands!" What God creates is so glorious!
So, the next time you have the privilege of being outside in nature, give thanks to the One who created such beauty. Marvel at His works because His works are wonderful! Know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made because what God creates is so, so good!
