God Is So Faithful
by Joy Martin, Set Me Free Ministries Co-founder
This past weekend a group of five Set Me Free Ministries team members traveled to Ringneck Ranch in Tipton, Kansas, to minister at a women's retreat. Wow! I can't even begin to tell you what an amazing weekend we had. The Holy Spirit was truly present. From the moment we received the call asking if we were available to the moment we drove off the ranch to head home, it was crystal clear that God had His hand in every detail of the weekend. We were blessed beyond measure by the experience.
But as I found myself reflecting on the weekend this morning, I was struck with just how faithful God is. Believe me when I say that a lot can go wrong when you're planning a retreat–any retreat. But when you add traveling two hundred miles into the equation, that is multiplied even more. As we began planning, we knew that God would provide–He always does. But as I look back, I am awestruck. Every detail of the weekend bore God's fingerprint.
And as think about everything that went into making our trip to Kansas possible, I am perhaps even more struck by God's faithfulness with Set Me Free Ministries in general. On January, 22, 2008, I posted our first blog at 11:31 p.m. At the same time, I launched our website and introduced the ministry to the public. In that blog, I said, "It's a scary and exciting endeavor all at the same time." Although that holds true still today, I honestly can't wrap my brain around how much has changed since that time.
We have hosted six community women's events, ministered to women at the Lydia House many times, been a part of countless retreats and speaking engagements, and held the first Set Me Free Run. We're now in the midst of planning our first leadership event, which is specifically designed for women in ministry leadership. We have walked with women through life's joys, celebrations, trials, and heartbreaks. We've seen lives transformed. We've met new people and formed friendships that will last a lifetime. We've even grown personally beyond measure. And we can't take the credit for a single drop of it. But you know what? We wouldn't have it any other way.
There is not a blog we write, not a word we speak, not an event we plan that we don't rely on God 100 percent. Without Him, we are truly nothing. In our four-plus years of ministry, we've been up against some rough waters. We've been confronted with some steep hills that appeared to be too big to climb. And yet, every time, with much prayer, we have overcome through the power of the Holy Spirit. God provided the inspiration to begin Set Me Free Ministries, and He continues to provide for our needs on every level. This ministry is truly a testament to Philippians 4:13, which says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." And we thank God on a daily basis for that.
As long as God continues to provide and bless us, we will continue on with this ministry. It is our prayer to continue to see people live their lives in victory through Christ. What a blessing!
On the Set Me Free Ministries' home page, we have the following scripture: "Titus 3:5: He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit." And to that, all I can say is a resounding AMEN!
