Count It All Joy! And We Did!
We were privileged to hold Count It All Joy in Omaha this past Saturday. It ended up being a great day where God moved and changed lives. Once again, we saw the Holy Spirit do a work in people's lives all day. And yet, leading up to this day, we had our doubts.
Our scripture of the day was, of course, "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." (James 1:2-4)
So, why in the world were we surprised that leading up to this event we experienced trials and testings of our faith?
We are never released by God to speak on something that He doesn't bring us through. This was certainly no exception. But what we continually learn is that God has things under control. What He has authored He will complete! And although the enemy will work overtime to stop God's plans, he cannot stand under the power of our Almighty God. We may have to battle Satan and his minions to win the fight, but when we have Jesus Christ on our side, the battle is already won.
That's some of what we learned, again, on Saturday. And the beauty of it is that we don't have to do the heavy lifting! When we allow God to take over, when we relinquish our control to Him, He takes over. It's all about surrender. Joy said something on Saturday in a powerful testimony. She said that gaining control in God's power doesn't look like gaining control at all. What she realized was that she couldn't gain control over her struggle. Instead, she had to surrender it.
So, we say to you, count it all joy when you have trials. God is doing a work in you, just like He is doing a work in us! Praise God that we have a Savior who is in control!
